NZXT Avatar Gaming Mouse

Introduction

I would like to thank CaseKing.de for supplying the review sample.

CaseKing is one of the few companies out there, which will not just
sell anything. They only offer hardware that performs well and is of
high quality. The shop carries quite a few exclusive parts and devices
from all around the world and it is also the official distributor for a
long list of well known manufacturers. Their assortment has grown
substantially in recent years, while great service and support is still
a very important part of the shop philosophy. The website may be in
German, but due to great demand, an English version is in the works.

Today we get to look at the latest from NZXT. Their newest product is a
mouse called "Avatar". NZXT has been putting a lot of thought into the
device and we have seen samples at various shows before. The mouse is
being released today and we are right along, giving you all the details
on the input device.

Features

  • 2600 DPI optical sensor with the largest range
of surface compatibility. Adjustable from 800, 1300, 1600 and 2600 DPI.
Switch instantly with our hardware developed DPI switch without dealing
    with software compatibility.
  • Rubber grip for avoiding slipping during intense game play
  • 7 programmable keys - allows user customization for FPS, MMORPG and RTS games.
  • Ergonomic ambidextrous design gives both right and left handed users flexibility
  • LED DPI indicator for better usage and feedback
  • 5.8 MP/Sec with a max frame rate of 6469 frames, the NZXT Avatar provides smooth fragging and accurate sniping.
  • Glide smoothly on any surface with the standard high quality Teflon feet
Packaging & Contents

NZXT has packaged the Avatar mouse in a very compact, black box. It can
be hung up on a store shelf and has an image of the pointing device on
the front. The rear holds a list of features in multiple languages.
Such a small box may, however, go under in a rack full of different
mice from different manufacturers.

You may open the box up like a book, to take a look at the Avatar mouse
itself. This should give you a good idea of the size and quality of the
device before buying it. The inside of the cover has a diagram, showing
the default function of each button of the Avatar. The cover also holds
the manual and CD but this is not mentioned anywhere on the package, so
you may end up searching for it and - even worse - return it to the
store for an exchange, thinking that it is missing.

The manual is very small but is quite detailed. It is currently only
available in English, but NZXT may expand it in the near future. As you
can see our Driver/Application CD is missing. Our sample did not come
with one, but you will have it in the retail variant
